SOLD
2104 N Douglas St, Florence, SC 29501
For Sale. The McLellan Estate is comprised of three parcels:
24 Acre Home Site with cleared agricultural land currently being used for cotton and corn, a 1 acre corner lot adjacent to the house with pecan trees, and a 75 acre area of wooded land; all unzoned.
Prior to 1930, my Grandfather, John Homer McLellan, started acquiring land around the Douglas Street area in Florence, SC, in 1930 he built the house located at 2104 N DOUGLAS STREET, FLORENCE, SC. As described in Florence County Public Records, he built a 3 bedroom, 2 full baths house with a wood burning fireplace. The house comprised in its original design was approximately 1800 square feet of interior living space. Later my Grandfather added a den which added approximately another 600 square feet of additional interior living space, now a total of approximately 2500 square feet of living area. To build the house my Grandfather built a sawmill and cut the lumber to erect the house and barn on the property from existing trees on the farm. Additionally, the house has a front porch and a cellar. It also has a kitchen, dining room, and living room. The house is constructed of wood which was grown on the farm approximately 100 years ago. The current auction is for the last 100 acres of a much larger farming operation which has been reduced over time. For many years two generations of McLellans made a living farming this land. The 78-acre parcel was at one time cleared farmland, which has not been farmed in approximately 50 to 60 years. It was planted in pine trees approximately 40 years ago, the pines were clear-cut in approximately 2019. The barn structure on the property was originally a tobacco packhouse where my Grandfather's cured tobacco was sorted by grade and prepared for market and ultimately sale. The barn was built at approximately the same time as the house and is constructed of approximately 100-year-old wood. The original barn structure had some additions over the years. The two parcels of land being auctioned have been in the McLellan Family for approximately 100 years. The house is being sold semi-furnished, I am currently living in it but will remove my personal property and leave most furniture in the house. I will also leave a small riding lawn mower to cut the grass and various small power tools for maintaining the property, i.e. small chain saw, string trimmer, leaf blower, and hedge trimmer, and various implements like rakes and shovels, etc.
